On Thursday, May 27, Detectives with the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Bladen County Department of Social Services arrested Bernadetra Teneka Campbell, 38 years old of Bladenboro who was charged with four counts of Obtaining Property by False Pretenses.  

The charges stem from 2017 through 2020 when Campell was receiving benefits in both North Carolina and South Carolina totaling $37,500.00

Campbell was arrested in Dillion, South Carolina, and waived extradition back to North Carolina where she was charged and placed in the Bladen County Detention Center under a $50,000.00 bond.

Food Stamp fraud is a major problem in our country.  Some reports estimate that over 3 million people receive food stamp assistance in a program that services approximately 40 million Americans.
