The total number of positive COVID-19 (Coronavirus) cases in North Carolina has reached 509, as off 10:35 a.m. on Wednesday. There are still no positive COVID-19 cases in Bladen County.

However, at 5 p.m. today, all gyms and other similar businesses will be closing in adherence to the order given by North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper. The order includes the local non-profit, Dream Works facility, located on Broad Street in Elizabethtown. According to Pastor Jason Williams, the organization is working on providing live streaming services for fitness and wellness services.

“I would like to provide something related to physical health and mental health on our social sites,” Pastor Williams stated, “Once a week I would like to have something related to things like fear and anxiety and give some coping mechanisms.”

In January of this year, Dream Works started offering services at the fitness facility. They stated, “We want to partner with you to PURSUE your Dreams. With a membership, you get more than an exceptional fitness facility. You get a partnership and the support to go after those dreams.” The services the non-profit offers deal with wellness, education, entrepreneurship, finances, career guidance, self-leadership, addiction services, and a coffee shop.

“We are working on virtual classes now,” Williams said.

Recently the non-profit in partnership with the Bladen County Substance Abuse Task Force and Hope for NC organized a Celebrate Recovery program to be held on-site at DreamWorks every Friday.

Although the team announced the launch of Celebrate Recovery at DreamWorks is going to be postponed until further notice, Pastor Williams said he is working on live streaming services involving the recovery program as well.

Hope for NC, a crisis assistance and training program, also asks anyone needing assistance to contact the agency by messenger or by phone at 910-674-9261 to be connected to/learn about additional resources available to you.

William Sellers with Eastpointe also made announcements reassuring the public, anyone needing mental, behavioral, or intellectually developmentally delayed services may continue to reach out for assistance by calling Eastpointe at 800.913.6109. Eastpointe’s phone service is offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Also located inside Dream Works is Pure Harmony Massage & Bodyworks. The owner Joelle Guyton Butler, who offers Deep tissue and Swedish massages along with other massage packages and gift certificates, will also have to close her shop.

Butler said she was absolutely heartbroken, but knew it was coming, however, it still hits hard.

Elizabethtown R & R announced on March 16 they would be closing. On their Facebook page, owners Judith and Carrie stated, “It is with a sad heart that we will be closing our doors for the next two weeks due to the coronavirus epidemic. This was a hard decision to make but we felt it was better to protect our clients at this time and we hope to be back to work soon. Please stay safe and healthy.”
