Attorney Mr. Leslie Johnson was surprised when he was presented The Order of the Long Leaf Pine by North Carolina House Representative William Brisson at the Bladen County Commissioners meeting held on Monday, December 2, 2019. Mr. Johnson was surrounded by adoring family and friends during the ceremony.
Rep. Brisson said, “It is just an honor for me to be here tonight on this special occasion to present the most prestigious, honorable award given by the Governor of the great State of North Carolina to Mr. Leslie Johnson, the Long Leaf Pine.”
“The State of NC Governor Roy Cooper, with special confidence in the integrity, learning and zeal of Leslie Johnson, I do present Leslie Johnson the Long Leaf Pine with the rank of Ambassador…” Mr. Brisson read from the plaque Mr. Johnson was presented.
“Congratulations, 41 years is a long time to serve the people,” Rep. Brisson stated.
Mr. Johnson said his wife, Michelle Johnson told him they were going to a surprise party and she made me put on my coat and tie. Mrs. Johnson looked at him and said, “Surprise!” and laughter erupted.
On behalf of the Bladen County Commissioners we do salute you for all your many years of service,” Mr. Charles Ray Peterson said.
A reception was held for Mr. Johnson after Mr. Johnson was presented with the award.
