Awards nominations are now being accepted for firefighters and EMS personnel. The deadline for nominations is by the close of business (5 pm) on November 16, said Bladen County Emergency Management Director Bradley Kinlaw.
The qualifying period is October 16, 2015 through October 15, 2016. Award winners will be announced during the December banquet, said Kinlaw.
“This is the second year we have done this,” said Kinlaw of the awards.

Kinlaw said to remember to include your name and contact information in case more information is needed. He added any nominations that do not include the contact information of the person nominating the individual will not be considered.
Kinlaw said once all the nominations have been received, a committee will meet to review the nominations and determine award winners.
Kinlaw said that the idea was created to enable deserving firefighters and EMS personnel to be recognized by the county. He said most fire departments recognize their own personnel during their annual banquets. He said this was a way to enable them to be recognized on the county level for going “above and beyond” the call of duty.
