Knight Family welcome Eva from Hong Kong to Dublin, NC

Dublin – Ayusa, a non-profit promoting global learning and leadership through cultural exchange and leadership programs for high school students, is pleased to welcome Hi Wa Lee a high school student from Hong Kong to the Dublin community. Hi Wa “Eva,” will be living with the Thomas Knight  family and attending West Bladen High School for the 2017-18 school year.

“We are all so excited to welcome Eva to Dublin and give her a taste of American life,” said Connie Lawrence, Ayusa Community Representative.  “Ayusa is committed to building bridges of understanding between cultures, and we can’t wait for Eva  to experience all the wonderful things that Dublin has to offer.”

Eva is from the city of Kowloon in Hong Kong region of China and has always wanted to travel to the United States.  She likes music, dance, sports and cooking.

She will be living with the Knight family, who is hosting an exchange student with Ayusa for the first time. “I’m very excited about this opportunity,” Megan Knight said.

Ayusa foreign exchange students are between the ages of 15 and 18 years old, come from more than 60 countries around the world, and are matched with local host families all across the U.S.

Ayusa is still seeking host families for international high school students in Bladen and surrounding counties for the 2017-2018  school year and future years. Interested individuals should contact Connie Lawrence, local representative at 919-612-5013 or clawrence@ayusa.org  for more information or visit www.ayusa.org.

“Hosting a foreign exchange student is a life-transforming experience, opening both the student’s and the host family’s eyes to a different culture and way of life,” said Alison Gold, executive director of Ayusa.  “Many American host families continue to host foreign exchange students year after year, learning about the far corners of the world without ever leaving their home towns.”
