Back to School Blast helps students prepare for new year

Civic organizations, businesses, churches and law enforcement came together Saturday to help students prepare for the new school year.

The third annual Back to School Blast was held at the Cape Fear Farmers Market in Elizabethtown. The main attraction was a uniform exchange event.

Bladen County schools will open for students on Monday, Aug. 26. Open houses for all schools are set for Aug. 22. Click here for open house times.

The school uniform exchange event was led by Patrick Bernicki, Sonda Guyton, Billie Hall and Tracy Smith. The Elizabethtown Rotary Club distributed collection boxes around Elizabethtown to collect Polo shirts for students.
