November is National Diabetes Month. Diabetes is a complex disorder of carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism that is primarily a result of deficiency or complete lack of insulin secretion by the beta cells of the pancreas or defects of the insulin receptors.

In order to educate the community regarding this disease process Caitlin Dalton, Nutritionist/Life Coach, and the Health and Wellness Ministry of Baldwin Branch MBC will be offering the community an opportunity to improve their health. This educational opportunity will consist of a series of 16 classes.  Support our efforts to make Bladen County and surround areas a healthier community!

Program participants at high risk for type 2 diabetes will meet in a group with a skilled Lifestyle Coach to learn ways to incorporate healthier eating and moderate physical activity into their daily lives. During the 16 sessions -with the option to continue, participants work with the Lifestyle Coach and the group to identify and discuss overcoming barriers to making these modest lifestyle changes.
When:  Wednesdays beginning November 15th from 5:30 p.m.– 6:30 p.m.
Where: Baldwin Branch Missionary Baptist Church in the G. F. Pone Fellowship Hall
