According to Bladen County Sheriff’s Officr around 4:50 PM Wednesday, February 2, 2022, the Elizabethtown Police Department responded to a bank robbery at First Citizens Bank in Elizabethtown.

A suspect description and vehicle description were broadcast. According to the report, Bladen County Sheriff‘s Deputies located the vehicle on 87 E. A chase ensued and after approximately 10 miles. A suspect was apprehended near Mount Horeb Church without incident.

The Sheriff’s Office started, “Great job by all deputies. Our dispatchers did an excellent job as well.”

According to Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect would not give his name when arrested and there were no weapons found on his person. According to the report the bank employees said the suspect handed them a note with his hand in his pocket. No weapon was seen at the time of the robbery.

Update from Elizabethtown Police Chief, Tony Parrish on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 9:30 a.m.. 

On 02/02/2022, at 4:56 PM our agency received a report of a robbery which had just occurred at The First Citizen’s Bank, located at 301 West Broad Street, Elizabethtown. Within two minutes, Elizabethtown Officer’s arrived on the scene to learn that the suspect had already departed.

A description was given of the suspect, as well as a direction of travel. Approximately twelve minutes later, based on the description given, Bladen County Sheriff’s Deputies encountered the suspect vehicle On Highway 87 East, outside of Elizabethtown. Bladen County Deputies attempted to stop the suspect vehicle and a vehicle chase ensued.

Bladen County Deputies chased the suspect vehicle for several miles until it became disabled in the Council area of Bladen County. The suspect, Justin Julius Milton of 1423 Tangora Lane, Fayetteville, NC was then taken into custody and charged with Common Law Robbery and Felony Fleeing to Elude Arrest. Milton is currently in the Bladen County Detention Center under a six hundred thousand dollar secured bond.

The FBI was notified and is assisting with the investigation. Justin Julius Milton was charged with Common Law Robbery, Felony Flee to Elude Arrest with a Motor Vehicle and received a $600,000 secured bond. The successful conclusion of this incident would not have been possible without the quick actions of the First
Citizens Bank Employees and the cooperation between Elizabethtown Police Department, Bladen County Sheriff’s Office and North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Sheriff McVicker is very pleased with the cooperation of the location law enforcement agencies.

Update from Sheriff James A. McVicker on February 4, 2022 at 12:25 pm: 

Justin Julius Milton’s first appearance was this morning at 9:30 AM. Milton remains in Bladen County Detention Center under a $600,000 secured bond. His next court date will be February 24, 2022 at 9:30 AM.
