Spread the love

Bladen Baptist Association has been in search of a new Director of Missions. This past week the new director was elected.

Rev. David Foster and his wife Beth were at the local Baptist Association’s office for a meet and greet on Monday evening. On Tuesday the election for the position was held and Rev. Foster was named the new Director of Missions for Bladen County.

Below is a letter Rev. Foster sent out to his flock.

Dear Bladen family,

Wow! How GREAT is our God!!!!!

I want to thank you for the wonderful hospitality you extended to Beth and me on Monday and Tuesday. We were blessed by your presence and fellowship. It was very evident that you love the Lord, your church family, and the Bladen Association.

That same sweet spirit spilled over into Tuesday evening’s meeting. Thank you for allowing me a few minutes to share my passion for the Church of Jesus Christ to walk daily with Him as he leads us to higher heights and greater things. It is my personal desire to become a more committed follower of Christ. I have experienced great joy in this journey, and it gets sweeter with each step I take with Him. Also, I desire to walk with you as we together walk with Christ. Thank you for your vote of confidence in calling me as the Director of Missions to the Bladen Association. God has directed this process and I cannot wait to see what He has planned.

As I step into this position, I deeply covet your prayers. Part of my character and personality is to strive for excellence in all I do. I take my work, my relationships, and my service to the Lord very serious. Please pray for me as I share this calling with my beloved family here at Galatia. Let me share something that just happened this morning. The grandmother of two precious children came into the office. Her son, the children’s father, was a part of our children’s ministry on Wednesdays several years ago. He was from a troubled home and was a part of the Wednesday program from first to sixth grade. Now he is battling addiction and has little interest in his children. His mother brings them to Galatia every other Sunday for Sunday School and worship. This past Sunday, these precious children brought me homemade “cards” and gave them to me right before worship. We had a guest speaker this past Sunday. Today their grandmother told me, “They said, ‘Where’s preacher David? We don’t like it when he’s not up there.’” I tried to hold back some tears – I was not successful. Maybe God is helping me prepare for an incredibly difficult announcement this Sunday. You know, God’s call is not without pain. It is filled with great promise and – with His constant help – bearable pain.

I look forward to being in your churches very soon. I am also looking forward to the fresh wind and fresh fire that will come with this new opportunity for both the Bladen Association and for me.

Expecting Greater Things,

Rev. David Foster

Director of Missions for the Bladen Baptist Association (wanted to write that for the very first time!)
