CLARKTON – Jaxon Hair walloped a walk-off 3-run home run in the 7th inning Tuesday to lift Clarkton School of Discovery to a 13-12 Waccamaw Middle School Conference season-opening baseball victory over Williams Township.

Clarkton trailed 12-10 when Hunter Wood and Prince Powell cracked 1-out singles in the home seventh. Hair then blasted his game-winning home run to end the game.

“It was a great comeback win for us,” said Blue Devil Coach Robert Mazur. The Blue Devils had committed 11 errors in the 1st 3 innings as Williams built a 10-1 lead.

Pitcher Aidan Trinidad walked and raced home with a Clarkton run in the 2nd inning when Gabriel Wright hammered a triple. The Blue Devils scored 4 runs on 2 errors, a Trinidad single and walks to Cayden Moore, Hair and Ryne Priest in the 3rd inning to close the gap to 10-5.

Omar Powell walked, and Wood smacked a single in the CSD 4th inning. Hair smashed a 2-run triple to score Omar Powell and Wood and trim the margin to 11-7.

Priest led off the Clarkton 5th with a single, and Rex Register reached on an error. Omar Powell and Hair sandwiched singles around a walk to Moore. Priest, Register and Omar Powell all scored to whittle the lead to 11-10.

Hair finished 3-for-4 at the plate with the home run, a triple, 2 runs scored and 6 runs batted in. Omar Powell batted 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored. Wood was 2-for-5 with 3 runs scored. Wright had the RBI triple, and Prince Powell, Trinidad and Priest added 1 hit each. Trinidad scored twice, and Prince Powell, Priest, Register and Moore scored 1 run each.

Trinidad started on the mound and pitched 4 innings allowing 11 runs on 8 hits and 11 errors while striking out 2. Hair worked 3 innings of relief and gave up a run on 3 hits and 3 walks while striking out three.

The Blue Devils will play Emereau Bladen Thursday at County Park.
