TAR HEEL – Clarkton School of Discovery defeated Tar Heel 4-3 Thursday in Bladen Five Middle School Conference baseball action.

The Blue Devils jumped in front with 2 runs in the first inning. Ayden Piland drew a lead-off walk, but was forced out on J. T. Junious’ fielder’s choice. Weston Hase walked, and both Junious and Hase scored. Will Hester belted a run-scoring single in the inning.

Junious and Hase both scored runs in the Clarkton fourth inning as the lead grew to 4-0.

Tar Heel rallied with 3 runs in the fifth inning. Alex Brisson was hit by a pitch, and pitcher Jadicus Register and Kendall Johnson smacked singles. Both Brisson and Register scored runs.

R. Stanley and Antonio Candelaria cracked singles, and Candelaria scored the third Panther run.

Register, Johnson, Stanley and Candelaria connected for one hit each for Tar Heel.

Hester batted 2-2 to lead the Blue Devil hitters, and teammate Jacob Priest slammed a double.

Tar Heel will host Bladenboro Tuesday at 4 p.m., while Clarkton will travel to Elizabethtown.
