TABOR CITY – East Bladen exploded for 7 runs in the final two innings to defeat South Columbus 10-3 in Three Rivers Conference baseball action Monday night.

The Eagles trailed 3-2 entering the fifth inning, but senior Shy Pone hammered a 2-out triple and later scored the tying run.

Senior Dan Tatum was hit by a pitch to begin the East Bladen sixth inning, and an error on sophmore Zach Meares’ bunt put two runners on base. After Josh McKoy walked, Tatum was forced at the plate on senior Spencer Scott’s fielder’s choice.

Senior Greyson Heustess knocked in Meares and McKoy with a single, and sophmore Freddy Wooten smacked a single that scored Scott and Heustess and stretched the Eagle lead to 7-3.

Tatum reached base on an error to start the Eagle seventh inning, and Meares belted a single. McKoy slammed a double that scored Tatum, and Heustess launched a sacrifice fly to right that plated Meares. Pone cracked a single that scored McKoy and pushed the lead to 10-3.

Scott pitched the first 4 innings and gave up 5 hits and 3 unearned runs while striking out six. Meares pitched 3 scoreless innings of one-hit relief and struck out four.

Pone batted 2-3 with the triple, a run batted in and a run scored. McKoy was 2-3 at the plate with a double, an rbi and 2 runs scored. Heustess, Wooten and Meares collected one hit each. Heustess drove in 3 runs, and Wooten knocked in two. Meares scored twice.

Two hits and an error produced a Stallion run in the second inning, but the Eagles answered with two runs in the third. Junior Gabe Barber reached base on a fielder’s choice, and Wooten reached base on an error. Both Barber and Wooten scored.

An error and rbi singles by Ethan Kennedy and Payton Ray vaulted South back in front 3-2 in the home third.

Joseph Ward batted 2-3 with a double to lead the Stallion hitters, and Kennedy finished 2-4 at the plate with an rbi and a double.
