TABOR CITY – East Bladen exploded for 9 runs in the 5th inning to close out a 13-3 mercy-rule non-conference baseball victory over South Columbus Friday night. The Eagles scored 4 runs in the 2nd inning and carried a 4-2 lead into the top of the fifth.

Senior Coleman Tatum pitched 4 innings and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks while striking out 7 to pick up the win. Senior Evan Pait pitched the 5th inning and struck out the side but did give up a solo home run to senior Carter Lee.

Senior Garrison Tatum slammed a 2-run double and scored a run to lead the Eagle hitters. Senior Ty Mathis walloped an RBI triple and scored a run. Senior Zamar Lewis smashed an RBI double and scored a run. Junior Kalec Autry hammered an RBI double and scored 2 runs.

Pait and senior Marlan Davis belted RBI singles for the winners. Davis also stole 4 bases and scored 2 runs. Pait and Coleman Tatum scored 2 runs each. Juniors Tyler Johnson and Jmarius Smith scored 1 run each. Johnson connected for the other Eagle hit, and junior Natoren Corbett drove in a run.

Junior Daquan Cox and freshman Briar Johnson pitched 2 innings each for the Stallions who used 5 pitchers in the game.

Coach Grant Pait’s Eagles, now 2-1, will travel to Terry Sanford Monday.
