ELIZABETHTOWN – East Columbus scored 5 runs in the top of the 8th inning to defeat Elizabethtown 7-3 Wednesday in Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball action.

Freeman doubled to begin the Hawk 8th inning, and Webb followed with a single that gave East a 3-2 lead. A hit batter, Bower’s double, 2 walks and 2 more singles produced 4 more runs.

Braylon Cromartie drew a lead-off walk in the Cougar 8th inning, and Colton Daly knocked him in with a single.

C. J. McCracken pitched 7.1 innings for the Cougars and struck out 14 batters. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks. Daly finished up for Elizabethtown on the mound.

A walk and a passed ball led to an East Columbus run in the 3rd inning, and a walk and a Weddle single stretched the Hawk lead to 2-0 in the 5th inning.

Keon Whittington belted a single to start the Cougar 6th inning, and Daly and Isaiah Lee drew walks. Jadarius McArthur smacked a single that scored Whittington and Daly and tied the game 2-2.

Lee batted 2-for-3 with a run scored, and teammate Ayden Williams turned in a 2-for-3 game at the plate. Daly cracked the RBI single and scored a run, and McArthur delivered the 2-run single. Whittington singled and scored, and Cromartie walked and scored.

Weddle batted 3-for-4 with a double to lead the Hawks, and Freeman finished 3-for-5 with a double. Bower also doubled.

Elizabethtown will travel to Whiteville Central Tuesday.
