The East Columbus at West Bladen baseball game was suspended by rain Wednesday night after 3 innings with West Bladen leading 4-1.

Knight Coach Kim Cain said that an effort would be made to complete the game as part of a double-header later in the season.

The Gator lead-off hitter in the first inning swung at a pitch in the dirt for strike-3 then raced all the way to second base as the ball skipped to the backstop. Two more wild pitches scored the run.

West Bladen tied the game in the bottom of the first. Junior pitcher Jeremy Hunt laced a single to centerfield. Senior Malcolm Vaught, Hunt’s courtesy runner, stole second base, advanced on a wild pitch and dashed home on Weston Pidgeon’s sacrifice fly.

With two out in the Knight third, senior Trevor Lesane reached base on an error, and sophmore Trent West and senior Michael Pastore drew walks. Lesane sprinted home on a wild pitch, and West scored on a balk.

Senior catcher Colby McLean ripped a single to centerfield to score Pastore.

Hunt pitched all 3 innings for the Knights, striking out three and allowing one hit.

Hunt, Pastore and McLean cracked one hit each for the Knights.
