FAIRMONT- Sophomore Colby Thorndyke and freshman Noah Parker combined to pitch a 1-hitter and strike out 12 batters as Fairmont defeated West Bladen 11-0 Monday night in the Three Rivers Conference opener for both teams.

Thorndyke pitched the 4 innings of no-hit ball, struck out 9 batters and walked 2. Parker allowed a hit and a walk, but struck out the side in the 5th.

Senior Dawson Bryan lined a lead-off single in the 5th inning for the only Knight hit.

Fairmont scored 6 runs in the 1st inning and added 4 more in the 2nd. Sophomore Jaridan Finch batted 2-3 and scored twice to lead the Tornado hitters. Thorndyke and Quamel Pittman slammed doubles. Quentin Hunt drove in 3 runs, and Cam Hodge knocked in 2.

Sophomore Kaiden Stanley started on the mound for the Knights and was followed by senior Colby White, sophomore Devon Strange and freshman Hunter Smith.

West Bladen will travel to Red Springs Tuesday for a 7 p.m. game.
