CLARKTON – Hallaboro built a 12-1 lead en route to a 12-4 Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball victory Monday over Clarkton School of Discovery.

The Tigers scored two runs in the first inning on 3 walks, an error and a hit batter. Hallsboro added 3 runs in the second, and four walks led to 2 more Tiger runs in the third.

Garrett Dunham walked to lead off the Clarkton third inning, stole second and scored when Lee Barnes cracked a single.

Three hits and three errors produced five more Hallsboro runs in the fourth inning and padded the Tiger lead to 12-1.

Jake Futrell drew a walk to begin the Blue Devil fourth, and C. J. Jones slammed a double to centerfield. Futrell dashed home on an error to close the gap to 12-2.

Elijah Cain drew a lead-off walk in the Blue Devil sixth but was retired on Dunham’s fielder’s choice. Dunham stole second and sprinted home when J’Von Junious raked a single to leftfield. Junious advanced on an error and scored when Barnes hammered a double.

Barnes batted 2-4 with a double and 2 runs batted in to lead the CSD hitters. Jones slammed the rbi double. Junious and Parker Greene added one hit each. Dunham scored 2 runs, and Junious and Futrell scored one run each.

Tragen McCullum pitched the first 2.1 innings for the Blue Devils and allowed 7 runs on 2 hits and 7 walks while striking out three. Dunham pitched 2 innings of relief and gave up 5 runs – one earned – on 3 hits and a walk while striking out three.  Futrell worked the final scoreless 1.2 innings on the mound giving up a hit and a walk while striking out three.

The Blue Devils will host Williams Township Thursday.
