BLADENBORO – Senior Nate Smith and junior Hunter Tyndall combined on a 4-hitter Tuesday night as Midway outlasted West Bladen 6-2 Monday night in Southeastern Athletic Conference baseball action.

Nate Smith pitched 5.2 innings and allowed a run on 3 hits and 4 walks while striking out five. Tyndall worked the final 1.1 innings and gave up an unearned run on 1 hit while striking out two.

Tyndall reached base on a fielder’s choice in the 1st inning and scored on Caden Wilson’s sacrifice fly. Nate Smith walked and scored on sophomore John McLamb’s single to center field for a 2-0 Raider lead.

Junior catcher Hunter Elks ripped a double to left field to start the Knight half of the first. Aaron Wren, the courtesy runner for Elks, raced to 3rd base on a wild pitch then scored when senior Devon Strange launched a sacrifice fly to right field.

Tyndall reached on a fielder’s choice in the 5th inning and scored on another Wilson sacrifice fly. Senior Grant Barefoot smacked a single to right, and junior Casey Culbreth walked in the Raider 6th inning. Junior Trey Gregory drove in both runners with a single to right field.

Wilson walked and stole 2nd base to start the Raider 7th inning. McLamb knocked him in with a single that pushed the lead to 6-1.

Junior Kaden Revels was hit by a pitch to begin the Knight 7th inning. Elks smashed a single to left, Revels advanced on a passed ball and scooted home on junior Bryce Fuller’s fielder’s choice.

Elks batted 3-for-4 to lead the Knight hitters. Devon Strange singled and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Fuller had a run batted in, and Revels and Wren scored runs.

Junior Garrison Carr started on the hill for the Knights and pitched 4.1 innings allowing 3 runs on 4 hits and 4 walks while striking out two. Senior Alex Brisson relieved and worked 1.2 innings giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and a walk while striking out one. Junior Hunter Smith pitched 1 inning allowing a run on a hit and 3 walks.

McLamb batted 3-for-4 with 2 runs batted in to lead Midway. Wilson had 2 RBIs and scored a run. Gregory batted 2-3 with a double and 2 RBIs. Tyndall singled and scored 2 runs.

Midway remained unbeaten at 7-0 in SAC-7 play. West Bladen dropped to 1-8 in league play and 5-10 overall. The two teams will play again Thursday night at Midway.
