BLADENBORO – Senior Lenny Berrios pitched a 6-hitter, struck out 9 batters and allowed 1 unearned run to lead Red Springs to a 4-1 Southeastern Athletic Conference victory over West Bladen Friday night.

Jacob Locklear reached base on an error, and Jayden Hammonds singled in the Red Devil 1st inning. Sophomore Tim Hammonds lined a single to center field that scored both runners for a quick 2-0 lead.

Senior Devon Strange yanked a single to right to start the Knight half of the first. Junior Bryce Fuller reached base on an error, and Devon Strange advanced on a wild pitch then dashed home on senior Brycen Blackmon’s sacrifice fly to trim the margin to 2-1.

Jacob Locklear rapped a 2-out single in the Red Devil 5th inning and raced home when Jayden Hammonds slammed a double to left that padded the lead to 3-1. Charles Lowery drove in Jacob Locklear with a single in the 7th inning for Red Springs.

Senior Bryley Williams batted 2-for-3 to lead the Knight hitters. Junior Kaden Revels smashed a double, and senior Alex Strange, Blackmon and Devon Strange connected for 1 hit each. Blackmon had a run batted in, and Devon Strange scored the run.

Williams pitched 6 strong innings for the Knights allowing 3 runs – 1 earned – on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out nine. Senior Alex Brisson gave up 2 hits and a run in his 1 inning on the mound, but struck out 2 batters.

Catcher Jayden Hammonds batted 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Jacob Locklear singled and scored 3 runs. Berrios doubled, and Tim Hammonds delivered a 2-run single. Lowery also singled home a run.

West Bladen, now 1-5 in the SAC-7 and 5-7 overall, will host St. Pauls Tuesday night.
