BLADENBORO – South Columbus rallied for ten runs in the final 4 innings to defeat West Bladen 13-7 Tuesday night in Three Rivers Conference baseball action.

A walk and an error produced a Stallion run in the first inning, but the Knights answered with 3 runs in the home first. Senior Dalton Pait reached base on a passed third strike and scored when junior Logan West blasted a triple to centerfield.

Senior Jeremy Pait knocked in West with a single to left. Juniors Braylon Williamson and Dawson Bryan smashed back-to-back doubles with Williamson scoring on Bryan’s double for a 3-1 Knight lead.

Two hits, a walk and a passed ball led to two Stallion runs in the second inning that tied the game 3-3.

The Knights edged ahead 4-3 in the third when Bryan walloped a triple to leftfield that scored Colby White, the courtesy runner for catcher Jeremy Pait, who had walked.

Junior Trey Gore tripled home Joseph Ward who had singled in the Stallion fourth inning. Gore dashed home on a wild pitch to edge South ahead 5-4. Two more hits, an error, a walk and a wild pitch produced 3 more runs and an 8-4 South Columbus lead in the fifth inning.

Williamson walked in the Knight fifth inning, advanced on a passed ball and scored as senior David Valenta reached base on an error to trim the margin to 8-5.

A walk, Miller Gore’s double and another Ward single produced two more Stallion runs in the sixth inning that stretched their lead to 10-5.

Dalton Pait walked to begin the Knight sixth, and West drilled a double to leftfield. Jeremy Pait delivered a single to centerfield that scored Dalton Pait, and junior Nolan Bryant laced a single to left that scored West and sliced the deficit to 10-7.

An error, two singles and Reid Gore’s double resulted in 3 more South runs in the seventh inning.

Jeremy Pait batted 2-3 with 2 runs batted in to lead the Knight hitters. Bryan slammed a double and a triple and drove in 2 runs, and West hammered a double and a triple, scored twice and had an rbi.

Williamson and Dalton Pait slugged doubles and scored 2 runs each. Bryant, Valenta and senior Shawn Oxendine added one hit each. Bryant had an rbi, and White scored a run.

Bryant pitched the first 3.1 innings for the Knights and allowed 5 runs – 4 earned – on 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out one. West pitched 2.2 innings of relief and gave up 5 runs – 2 earned – on 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out three. White pitched the seventh and gave up 3 runs – one earned – on 3 hits and struck out two.

Ward batted 3-4 with an rbi and 2 runs scored for the Stallions. Rajon Graham was 3-5 with 2 rbi’s and a run scored, and Payton Ray was 2-4 with 2 runs scored. Miller Gore batted 2-5 with a double, an rbi and a run scored.

Anondre Ganus, the second of three Stallion pitchers, picked up the win with 3.1 innings of relief.

West Bladen will close out its season Saturday by hosting Whiteville at 12 noon then East Bladen at 4 p.m.
