ROWLAND – South Robeson pushed across an unearned run in the second inning and held on to edge West Bladen 1-0 Friday night in Three Rivers Conference baseball action.

The Mustangs’ Jeremiah Lowery reached base on an error, and advanced on a walk, a hit batter and a passed ball to score the game’s only run.

Sophmore Logan West pitched a complete game 2-hitter for the Knights and struck out 10 batters while allowing only the unearned run, one walk and one hit batter.

West and senior Scott Bowen were both hit by pitches with two out in the first inning but were stranded on base. West pounded a lead-off double to leftfield in the fourth inning but was stranded at second base.

In the Knight sixth inning, junior Daulton Pait smacked a single to centerfield, and West yanked a single to leftfield. A one-out walk to Jake Butler loaded the bases, but Mustang junior Zack Carter came on in relief to strike out the next two batters and end the threat.

Caleb Heup walked and advanced on an error in the Knight seventh inning, but Carter retired the next two batters to record the save.

West batted a perfect 2-2 with the double to lead the Knight hitters. Pait and Heup connected for one hit each.

Quintin Hunt and Mathew Chavis had one hit each for the Mustangs.

West Bladen, now 1-3, will travel to Wallace-Rose Hill Saturday night at 6:30 for a non-conference game.
