TEACHEY – A 7-run second-inning propelled Wallace-Rose Hill to a 10-3 non-conference baseball victory over West Bladen Saturday night.

The Knights jumped in front with a first inning run. Junior Dalton Pait reached on an error, advanced on a passed ball and scored when sophmore Logan West belted a single to centerfield.

Wallace-Rose Hill answered with an unearned run in the home first on an error and Will Lanier’s single.

The Bulldogs bunched 2 hits, an error, 5 walks and 2 hit batsman to scored their 7 runs in the second. Tyler Brinkley cracked a 2-run single in the inning. Lanier drove in another run with a third inning single as the lead grew to 9-1.

Ethan Faircloth blasted a solo home run for the Bulldogs in the fifth inning.

West reached on an error to begin the Knight sixth inning. Senior Scott Bowen ripped a single to left-centerfield.

Sophmore Jake Butler launched a fly ball to rightfield, and West and Bowen came around to score as senior Kaleb Heup and sophmore Braylon Williamson drew walks.

West finished with an rbi single and a run scored. Bowen cracked a single and scored a run. Butler, Heup, junior David Valenta and senior Trey Storms connected for one hit each.

Sophmore Colby White started on the mound for the Knights and was relieved by Storms in the second inning. Junior Derrick Long relieved Storms in the fifth.

Lanier batted 3-4 with a double and 2 rbi’s. Faircloth slugged the solo home run. Kobe Vann was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs with relief help from Conner Cavenaugh.

West Bladen will host defending Class 1A state champion Whiteville Tuesday night.
