DUBLIN – Wallace-Rose Hill built a 5-0 lead then withstood a late West Bladen rally to claim a 6-4 non-conference baseball victory Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs bunched 3 hits and a hit batsman to scored 3 first-inning runs. Trey Parker’s run-scoring double capped the rally. A 2-out error and Ethan Faircloth’s run-scoring triple stretched the lead to 4-0 in the second.

An error and Faircloth’s 2-out single padded the Wallace lead to 5-0 in the fourth.

The West Bladen offense broke through in the home fifth. Junior Dalton Pait led off with a single, and senior Kaleb Heup raked a single to leftfield. Sophmore Dawson Bryan laced a single to left-centerfield to load the bases. Sophmore Logan West lifted a sacrifice fly to rightfield that scored Pait.

Wallace added a run in the top of the seventh, but the Knights rallied with 3 runs in the home seventh. Pait and junior Derrick Long were both hit by pitches to start the inning, and one-out later Bryan clobbered a triple that scored both runners.

West drew a walk, and senior Scott Bowen launched a sacrifice fly to left that scored Bryan and trimmed the lead to 6-4. However the next batter was retired to end the game.

Bryan slugged the 2-run triple, batted 2-4 and scored a run to lead the Knight hitters. Sophmore Nolan Bryant batted 2-3 with a double, and sophmore Jake Butler slammed a double. Bowen, Pait and Heup cracked one hit each.

West and Bowen drove in a run each, Pait scored 2 runs, and Long scored a run.

Faircloth batted a perfect 4-4 with a pair of triples, 2 runs batted in and a run scored to lead the Bulldogs. Parker was 2-3 with two doubles and an rbi, and teammate Gabe Trejo batted 2-4. Tyler Brinkley was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs.

West Bladen will return to Three Rivers Conference play Friday night at Whiteville.
