DUBLIN – Senior Caleb Sholar fired a 2-hit shutout to lead West Bladen to a 10-0 Four County Conference baseball victory over Rocky Point Trask Friday night.

Sholar gave up singles in the first and fifth innings, struck out four, walked two and hit a batter. Junior centerfielder Scott Bowen made a diving catch in the third inning to rob Miles Jordan of a hit, and freshman shortstop Logan West snagged Jordan’s liner and doubled a runner off second base to end the game in the fifth inning.

In the Knight first inning, senior Weston Pidgeon walked and sprinted around to third base as senior T. J. Guyton perfectly executed the hit-and-run play with a bouncer through the right side. After Guyton stole second base, senior Jarrett Williams ripped a single through the middle that scored Pidgeon and Guyton.

Senior Trent West swatted a high-hopper that vaulted over the thirdbaseman’s head for a single, and Bowen lifted a sacrifice fly to centerfield that plated Williams. Logan West sliced a line drive over the firstbaseman’s head that scored Trent West for a 4-0 Knight lead.

Senior Hunter Pait smacked a single to centerfield to begin the West Bladen second inning. Pait stole second base and moved to third on Pidgeon’s sacrifice bunt. Guyton raked a single to left that drove in Pait. After Williams reached base on an error, Guyton stole third base and scooted home when the throw sailed into leftfield to pad the lead to 6-0.

Logan West drew a one-out walk in the third, stole second base and went to third as the throw skipped into centerfield. Junior Trey Storms knocked in West with a single to centerfield, and Pidgeon yanked a double down the leftfield line that scored Storms for an 8-0 lead.

Trent West and Sholar drew walks in the Knight fourth inning. An errant pick-off throw to first base allowed Trent West to score, and Logan West smashed a single to left that scored Ian Sykes, the courtesy runner for Sholar.

Logan West batted 2-2 with 2 runs-batted-in and a run scored to lead the Knight hitters. Guyton finished 2-3 at the plate with an rbi and 2 runs scored. Pidgeon cracked the rbi double and scored a run.

Williams connected for the 2-run single and scored a run. Trent West, Storms and Pait added one hit each. Trent West scored 2 runs, and Pait, Storms and Sykes scored one run each. Bowen and Storms had one rbi each.

Coach Kim Cain’s Knights raised their league record to 7-1 and their overall mark to 9-5. West Bladen will travel to rival East Bladen Tuesday night for a 7:00 game.
