West Bladen’s Knights exploded for 7 runs in the top of the seventh inning and rallied past Wallace-Rose Hill 10-4 Thursday night in Four County Conference baseball action.

Sophmore Trent West and senior Michael Pastore both reached base on passed third strikes and Seth Britt walked to load the bases. Troy Edge launched a sacrifice fly to deep leftfield to scored West with the tying run.

Pitcher Chandler Lennon clobbered a sacrifice fly to deep centerfield to score Pastore with the go-ahead run. Sophmore Weston Pidgeon knocked in Britt with a single that padded the lead to 6-4.

Junior Jeremy Hunt reached base on an error, and senior Trevor Lesane legged out an infield hit to load the bases again.

Senior Colby McLean’s infield hit plated Pidgeon, and West hammered a drive off the left-centerfield fence that scored Hunt, Lesane and McLean. West was held to a single after becoming entangled with the firstbaseman rounding first.

Lennon went the distance on the mound for the Knights allowing 3 runs – one earned – on 3 hits and 3 walks, while striking out eight.

The Knights went up 2-0 in the first. Hunt and Lesane belted singles, and Hunt raced home on a passed ball. Lesane scored the second run on a throwing error.

Gavin Herring led off the Wallace half of the first with a solo home run that trimmed the West Bladen lead to 2-1.

Wallace-Rose Hill rallied in the fifth inning with 3 runs to take a 4-2 lead, however rightfielder Hunt kept the margin at 4-2 by gunning down a Bulldog runner at the plate trying to score from secondbase on a single.

The Knights whittled the margin to 4-3 in the sixth as Edge walked, advanced on a wild pitch and Lennon’s infield out, and sprinted home on Pidgeon’s sacrifice fly.

Hunt and Lesane both batted 2-4 to lead the Knight hitters. Pastore swatted a double, and McLean, West, and Pidgeon added one hit each.

West drove in 3 runs, and Pidgeon knocked in two. Lennon and McLean had one run batted in each.

Coach Kim Cain’s Knights improved to 5-3 in the Four County and 8-5 overall. West Bladen will host West Columbus Saturday at 2:30.
