DUBLIN – West Bladen pounded out 13 hits Friday night and opened Four County Conference play with a 13-1 baseball victory over Union.

Knight senior Trent West hit 3 batters then worked out of a first-inning jam with a strike-out. The Knights responded with 4 runs in the home first. Senior Weston Pidgeon led off with a single, stole second and scored on an error as senior Jarrett Williams reached base.

Trent West knocked in Williams with a single to left, and junior Scott Bowen laced a single to left. Caleb Sholar belted a single to centerfield that scored Trent West and Bowen.

The Knights tacked on 4 more runs in the second. Pidgeon blasted a triple to left-centerfield, and senior T. J. Guyton was hit by pitch. Williams lifted a sacrifice fly to right that scored Pidgeon.

Guyton dashed home on an error, and Bowen walked. Sholar delivered a single that scored Bowen, and Sholar sprinted home on a wild pitch for an 8-0 lead.

Five more Knight runs scored in the third. Hunter Pait yanked a single to left, and Guyton reached base on an error that plated Pait. Trent West walloped a triple that scored Guyton. Bowen cracked a single that plated Trent West.

Sholar smacked a single that scored Bowen, and Logan West belted a single that plated Sholar.

Trent West pitched 3 innings to pick up the win, striking out 3 and allowing a hit and a walk. Junior Trey Storms relieved and struck out 3 in his 1.1 innings on the mound, allowing a run and 2 hits. Bowen came on to retire the last 2 batters of the game, striking out one.

Sholar batted a perfect 3-3 with 4 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. Pidgeon finished 3-4 at the plate with a triple and 2 runs scored. Trent West was 2-3 with a triple, 2 runs scored and 2 rbi’s.

Bowen finished 2-2 at the plate with 2 rbi’s and 3 runs scored. Guyton, Logan West and Pait added one hit each. Guyton scored twice, and Pait and Williams scored one run each. Logan West and Williams had one rbi each.

West Bladen improved to 2-3 and will travel to West Columbus Saturday for a 3 p.m. game.
