DUBLIN – Sophmore Logan West pitched a 2-hitter and struck out 11 batters to lead West Bladen’s Knights to a 14-2 Three Rivers Conference baseball victory over South Robeson Tuesday night.

“Logan pitched great against them at their place but we couldn’t score,” said Knight Coach Kim Cain referring to a 1-0 loss at South Robeson. “They walked some batters tonight, but we got some big hits too.”

The Knights exploded for ten runs in the first inning. West, senior Scott Bowen, sophmore Jake Butler and sophmore Braylon Williamson drew one-out walks that forced home Derrick Long, the courtesy runner for West.

Sophmore Nolan Bryant laced a single to rightfield that scored Bowen and Colby White, the courtesy runner for Butler. Junior Dalton Pait cracked a single to right that loaded the bases.

Senior Kaleb Heup walked to force home Williamson, and senior Trey Storms yanked a single to left that scored Bryant and Pait. Sophmore Dawson Bryan walked, and Bowen was hit by a pitch to force home Heup.

Butler reached base on an error that scored Storms and Bryan, and Bowen dashed home on a passed ball with the tenth run of the inning.

Pait sliced a single to left to begin the Knight second inning. Heup drilled a long single to centerfield that sent Pait to third, and Pait darted home on a wild pitch for an 11-0 Knight lead.

Two walks and run-scoring singles by Quentin Hunt and Cody Scott plated Mustang runs in the third inning.

The Knights answered with 3 runs in the fourth inning. Bryan raked a single to left and stole second base. West smacked a single to centerfield.

Bowen walloped a double to right-centerfield that scored Bryan. A throwing error on Butler’s grounder plated Long and Bowen.

West only allowed the 2 hits and 2 walks in the third inning. He retired the side in order in the other 4 innings.

Pait batted 2-3 with 2 runs scored to lead the Knight hitters. Bowen slammed the double, drove in 2 runs and scored three. Bryant and Storms cracked 2-run singles and scored a run each.

West, Heup, and Bryan connected for one hit each. Bryan and Long scored 2 runs each. Heup drove in a run and scored one. Williamson and White scored one run each.

It was the second straight win for the Knights who will host Wallace-Rose Hill in a non-conference game Wednesday at 7 p.m.
