LAKE WACCAMAW – Senior Scott Bowen struck out 9 batters in 6 strong innings on the mound to lead West Bladen to a 4-2 Three Rivers Conference baseball victory over East Columbus Friday night.

Bowen walked 4, hit a batter and allowed only 3 hits and 2 unearned runs.to pick up the win. Sophmore Nolan Bryant pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning recording one strike-out and picking up the save.

Bryant drew a lead-off walk, stole a base and came around to score the first Knight run in the second inning. Senior Trey Storms walked and raced home when Dawson Bryan smacked a single to centerfield that put West Bladen ahead 2-0.

Bowen drilled a double to centerfield to begin the third inning. Sophmore Jake Butler walloped a double to centerfield that scored Derrick Long, the courtesy runner for Bowen, and padded the lead to 3-0.

Bryan drew a 2-out walk in the fourth inning and stole second base. Sophmore Logan West knocked in Bryan with a single to left-centerfield that grew the Knight lead to 4-0.

J. T. Junious reached base on an error to begin the Gator sixth inning. Bowen struck out the next two batters, but Dylan Patrick walked, and Floyd Chen yanked a double down the leftfield line that scored Junious and Chan Floyd, the courtesy runner for Patrick.

Chen was thrown out at third base on a throw from catcher Butler to thirdbaseman Braylon Williamson.

Bowen batted 2-2 with a double to lead the Knight hitters. Butler doubled home a run. Bryan and West cracked run-scoring singles. Bryant, Storms, Bryan and Long scored one run each.

Coach Kim Cain’s Knights will host South Robeson Tuesday night.
