ROCKY POINT – Jeremy Hunt scattered seven hits, struck out eight and didn’t allow an earned run Tuesday night as West Bladen defeated Heide Trask 7-3 in a Four County Conference baseball game

The Knights broke a 3-all tie with four runs over the final three innings to notch their four league win against five losses. West Bladen is 5-12 overall and will host Wallace-Rose Hill on Friday at 7 p.m.

Trask fell to 5-9 overall and 3-6 in conference play.

Troy Edge was 2-for-4 with two runs scored to lead the West Bladen offense. Chandler Lennon, Trent West, Seth Britt, Ray Jones and Hunt each had one hit. Hunt drove in two runs while Weston Pidgeon, Jarrett Williams, West and Jones had one RBI apiece. West scored twice while Lennon, Jones and courtesy runner Jonathan Ashworth scored once.

West Bladen scored three times in its first at-bat to take the early lead. Hunt led off with a walk and courtesy runner Ashworth moved to second on a wild pitch. After an out, Lennon singled to right with Ashworth going to third. West followed with another single to drive that scored Ashworth. Lennon scored on Williams’ ground out for the second run. Britt followed with an infield single to put runners on the corners. Britt then stole second and when the throw went into the outfield, West scored.

Trask came back with single runs in the first, second and fourth innings to make it 3-3. An error factored into the scoring in each inning.

West Bladen regain the lead in the fifth when Edge reached second on an outfield error, moved to third on a balk and scored when Hunt reached on a fielder’s choice..

The Knights added two more runs in the sixth for a 6-3 advantage. Jones lined a one-out single to center and Edge singled to left to put runners on first and second. Hunt then slapped a single to center that scored Jones and sent Edge to third. Pidgeon followed with a sacrifice fly to left that scored Edge.

West Bladen tacked on an extra run in the seventh. West was hit by pitch, Williams reached on an error and Donald McCullum was hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out. Jones then grounded out to short, but West scored on the play to make it 7-3.
