Baseball: West Bladen 7, Red Springs 5

RED SPRINGS – Juniors Colby White and Logan West combined to pitch a 4-hitter Monday night as West Bladen defeated Red Springs 7-5 in the Three Rivers Conference baseball action.

White pitched the first 5 innings and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out one to pick up the win. Logan West worked 2 hitless innings and allowed 3 unearned runs while walking two and striking out three to record the save.

Logan West cracked a one-out single in the Knight first inning, and junior Nolan Bryant ripped a single to left. Senior Jeremy Pait raked a single to left that scored Logan West for a 1-0 lead.

Logan West lined a single to left in the Knight third inning. Junior Dawson Bryan walked, and both runners advanced on Bryant’s fielder’s choice. An error scored Logan West, and Jeremy Pait’s fielder’s choice plated Bryan. White reached base on an error that scored Bryant for a 4-0 Knight lead.

Junior Kevin Bryant tripled and scored the first Red Springs run in the third inning.

Nolan Bryant walked in the West Bladen fifth and raced home when White smashed a double to leftfield that padded the Knight lead to 5-1.

The Knight lead grew to 7-1 in the sixth inning. Senior Thomas West and freshman Devon Strange both reached base on errors, and Bryan knocked in Thomas West and Strange with a single to centerfield.

Cameron Locklear doubled home Jaylen Mack in the Red Springs sixth inning. Two walks and two errors produced a trio of unearned Red Devil runs in the seventh inning

Logan West and Jeremy Pait both batted 2-4 to lead the Knight hitters. Logan West scored twice, and Jeremy Pait drove in 2 runs. White doubled home a run, and Bryan and Nolan Bryant added one hit each. Bryan, Thomas West and Strange scored one run each.

Cameron Locklear batted 2-3 with an rbi double to lead the Red Devils. Pitcher Kevin Bryant tripled and scored twice. Mack singled and scored twice.

Coach John Ammons’ Knights improved to 3-6 in league play and 4-7 overall and will host Red Springs Tuesday night.
