BLADENBORO – Junior Brycen Blackmon blasted a 3-run triple in the 7th inning that walked off a 9-8 Three Rivers Conference baseball victory for West Bladen Tuesday night over South Columbus.

It was the 2nd straight come-from-behind victory for Coach John Ammons’ Knights who rallied from 9 runs down to defeat St. Pauls 16-14 Monday night. West Bladen improved to 3-4 in league play and 4-8 overall.

The Knights trailed 8-5 when junior Alex Brisson drew a walk to begin the winning rally. Sophomore Hunter Smith reached base on an error, and junior Bryley Williams walked to load the bases. Junior Alex Strange lined a single to right field that scored Brisson.

Blackmon then walloped his triple to center field that cleaned the bases scoring Smith, Williams and Alex Strange and sending the home crowd home happy.

Williams pitched 6.1 innings of solid relief to pick up the win allowing 2 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks while striking out one. Junior Josh Russ started on the hill for the Knights but allowed 6 runs – only 1 earned – on 3 walks and a hit.

Blackmon finished 2-for-4 at the plate with the 3-run triple and a run scored. Williams batted 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored, and sophomore Kaden Revels was 2-for-3 with a 3-run double and a run scored. Alex Strange batted 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.

Sophomore Hunter Elks and junior Devon Strange belted 1 hit each for the winners. Brisson had an RBI. Elks, Brisson, Devon Strange and Smith scored 1 run each.

The Stallions took charge early with a 6-run 1st inning. Three walks, the Knights’ only error of the game, 2 hit batters and RBI singles by Luke Stocks, Aaron Cartrette and John Henry Gore produced the runs.

Devon Strange and Smith drew walks in the home half of the 1st, and Alex Strange knocked in his brother Devon with a single to right that whittled the deficit to 6-1.

Neither team scored until Revels raked a single to the left side in the bottom of the 5th inning then scooted to 3rd base as the Stallions misplayed Devon Strange’s bunt. Brisson’s ground-out brought home Revels and narrowed the gap to 6-2.

Williams cracked a single to begin the Knight 6th inning, and Blackmon slapped a single to the left side. Elks smacked a single to shortstop to load the bases. Revels hammered a double to center field that scored Williams, Blackmon and Elks to slice the Stallion lead to 6-5.

Stocks singled and E. J. Tisdale walked in the South 7th inning, and both raced home when Gavin McRae delivered a 2-run single to pad the lead to 8-5.

Stocks batted 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored to lead the Stallion hitters. Cartrette was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Gore turned in a 2-for-4 game with an RBI, McRae posted the 2-run single.

Austin Mayo pitched 5.2 innings and allowed 5 runs – 4 earned – on 7 hits and 2 walks while striking out six. Reagan Worley relieved and gave up 3 runs – 2 earned – on 2 walks. Mason Nealy took the loss giving up a run on 2 hits.

The Knights will close out their season Friday night when they host rival East Bladen.
