DUBLIN – Whiteville pounded out 13 hits Wednesday night in a 14-1 Three Rivers Conference baseball victory over West Bladen.

Senior Will Hinson batted 3-4, slammed 2 doubles, drove in 4 runs and scored three to lead the Whiteville attack. Senior Brooks Baldwin hammered a 2-run triple and finished 2-4 at the plate.

Sophmore Lincoln Ransom was 2-4 with a double, and junior Dylan Lawson also batted 2-4. Sophmore Jake Harwood clubbed a 2-run double.

“That’s a good-hitting ball club,” said Knight Coach Kim Cain. “They really put the bat on the ball.”

The Knights pushed across a first-inning run against Lawson, the Wolfpack starting pitcher. Senior Scott Bowen bounced a single off the pitcher that skipped past the shortstop. Consecutive walks to sophmore Dawson Bryan, sophmore Jake Butler and junior Dalton Pait forced home Bowen with the Knight run.

Harwood relieved Lawson and struck out the next two batters with the bases-loaded. Harwood pitched 3.1 innings, struck out six and allowed only one hit to pick up the win. Baldwin worked the final 1.1 innings on the hill and struck out one for Whiteville.

Sophmore Braylon Williamson belted a fourth inning single for the other Knight hit.

Sophmore Logan West started on the mound for West Bladen and pitched 1.1 innings, striking out two and walking three. Sophmore Colby White relieved and pitched 1.2 innings, striking out one and walking two. Sophmore Nolan Bryant pitched the final 2 innings, striking out 3 and walking one.

West Bladen will host West Columbus Friday night.
