WHITEVILLE – Whiteville defeated East Bladen 5-2 Friday night in non-conference baseball action.

Senior Fisher Soles pitched a complete game 2-hitter and struck out 5 batters to pick up the win for the Wolfpack. Junior Coleman Tatum started on the mound for the Eagles and allowed 5 runs – 4 earned – on 4 hits and 5 walks while striking out six. Sophomore Britt Sasser pitched a scoreless inning of 2-hit relief and struck out two.

Sophomore Tyler Johnson stroked a single through the right side to start the game. Senior Ethan Johnson was hit by a pitch, and Tyler Johnson stole 3rd base then darted home on junior Zamar Lewis’s ground-out. Senior Raymond Autry pounded a double to right field that plated Ethan Johnson for a 2-0 East lead.

Sophomore J. T. Todd walked and raced home on senior Bud Baldwin’s in the Wolfpack 1st inning. Baldwin stole 2nd base and advanced to third on an error then scored the tying run as sophomore Luke Odham reached base on an error.

Junior Grayson Bell and Baldwin drew walks to begin the Whiteville 3rd inning. Bell stole home, and senior Ty Lawson drilled a triple to left field that scored Baldwin. Odham’s ground out plated Lawson for a 5-2 Wolfpack lead.

Autry cracked the run-scoring single, and Tyler Johnson singled and scored for the Eagles. Lewis drove in a run, and Ethan Johnson scored a run.

Baldwin batted 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored 2 runs for Whiteville. Lawson belted the run-scoring triple and scored a run. Todd and Bell scored runs.

The Eagles, now 6-2, will travel to Fairmont Tuesday night.
