Friday night the Paul Brown Leadership Academy Bulldogs lost a 52-50 decision at Antioch Christian Academy, then on Monday night New Life Christian Academy defeated Paul Brown 84-33 at East Arcadia.

Antioch 52, Paul Brown 50

LUMBERTON – Antioch Christian rallied in the final minute Friday for their 52-50 victory. It was the second 2-point victory for Antioch over Paul Brown this season.

Marvin Lacewell dropped in a pair of first quarter baskets as the Bulldogs battled Antioch to a 7-7 first period tie.

Lacewell nailed a 3-point shot and another basket in the second quarter, and teammate Marquese Robinson threw in a pair of baskets to keep Paul Brown within 24-20 at halftime.

Johnathan Cox pumped in 8 points, and Cameron Taylor popped in 6 points in the second quarter to lead Antioch to the halftime lead.

Zarian Brown fired in 4 baskets and a free throw in the third quarter for the Bulldogs, and Lacewell drained another 3-point shot to keep Paul Brown within 38-34 at the quarter break.

Micah McKoy sank a 3-point basket and 2 free throws in the final period for the Bulldogs. Brown threw in 2 more baskets, and T. J. Smith added a basket and 2 free throws.

Zarian Brown topped the Bulldog scoring with 17 points, and Lacewell followed with 12 points. Robinson finished with 7 points.

Cox led all scorers for Antioch with 18 points, and Taylor followed with 14 points. Teammate C. J. McQueen finished with 10 points.

Free throw shooting plagued both teams as Antioch hit only 13 of 36 free throws, while the Bulldogs made only 9 of 22 foul shots.

New Life Chrisian Academy 84, Paul Brown 33

EAST ARCADIA – New Life Christian Academy raced to a 61-19 halftime lead en route to an 84-33 victory over Paul Brown Leadership Academy Monday night.

Zarian Brown topped the Paul Brown scoring with 12 points, and MyKell McKoy followed with 8 points. Teammate Marvin Lacewell finished with 6 points.

Paul Brown is now 4-1 in league play and 4-3 overall. The Bulldogs expect to receive a forfeit from Riverside Christian and will return to action Tuesday, January 30th when they host Thomas Academy of Lake Waccamaw.
