The library serves Bladen County residents with valuable resources, helpful information, and beneficial opportunities. On February 8th, a Financial Aid Workshop will provide hands-on help for students and their parents, free of charge. This event is in partnership with Bladen Community College.

Financial Aid… Filling out the dreaded, endless FAFSA forms… It can be a daunting task. If you have never done it before or even if you have, some expert advice can certainly be helpful and make the process much smoother.

The workshop will take place in Bladen County Public Library’s meeting room from 4pm-5pm on February 8th. The hosts of the event are Samantha Benson and Lenora Lacy, the Director and Administration Assistant respectively. The Library will be providing laptops for patrons to use during the workshop while Mrs. Benson and Mrs. Lacy will be providing hands-on assistance and information, according to Bladen County Public Library Assistant and Teen Programming Coordinator Jasmine Peterkin.

Peterkin stated, “As a recent college graduate who went through FAFSA forms on my own I understand how difficult of a process it is and often would hit frustrating dead ends that would make the process cumbersome and take much longer than it should have. Having a professional assist me through the process would have been invaluable, so I was eager to help set up something like this to those considering furthering their education. While the focus will be on high school graduates – anyone looking for help on the process is more than welcome to attend.”
