On Saturday, Bladen Community College hosted a Back to School Blast, where all Bladen County students had the opportunity to receive free school supplies, haircuts, educational resources, uniforms, and COVID-19 vaccines.

The event had a great turnout, and the children enjoyed receiving their free gifts in the form of a scavenger hunt around the school’s campus. Upon arriving, the children received a scavenger hunt card. They “scavenged” the campus and then had the opportunity to turn in their card to be entered in drawings that occurred every 15 minutes until the event ended.

Approximately 20 vendors were present at the Blast, including Bladen Baptist Association, Lumber River United Way, Bladen County Schools, Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, Red Cross, NC Works, Bladen County Migrant Education, Bladen County Health Department, Bladen County 4H, and more!

Paul R. Brown Leadership Academy presented the flags as attendees recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

BCC President Dr. Amanda Lee thanked everyone for coming and introduced Chairman of the BCC Board of Trustees Dennis Troy. Mr. Troy described BCC students, faculty, and staff as a family and welcomed everyone to be a part of the school.
