A Staff Report

Boost the Boro, Inc. (BTB), a dedicated local non-profit organization, is once again making waves with its 16th annual Beast Fest. With a history of resounding success, this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever before, thanks to the hard work of passionate volunteers. These dedicated individuals have been working tirelessly to showcase an array of activities and attractions that will engage attendees of all ages.

The volunteers of Boost the Boro, Inc. have consistently demonstrated their unwavering commitment to making the Beast Fest an exceptional experience for the community.

Beast of Bladenboro, North Carolina Festival #16, which took place this past Friday and Saturday in downtown Bladenboro, achieved a historic milestone as it marked the largest turnout in the event’s history. Conservative estimates place the attendance at over 10,000, making the festival not only a celebration of Halloween but also a testament to the community’s vibrant enthusiasm for such gatherings.

One of the key factors contributing to the success of Beast Fest #16, according to Don White, a member of the Beast Fest committee, was the meticulous planning regarding parking spaces. The organizers aimed to ensure a smooth experience for attendees, and their efforts paid off as the parking arrangements seamlessly accommodated the massive influx of visitors. The positive feedback regarding parking reflects the community’s eagerness to participate in this annual extravaganza.

Vendor activity played a crucial role in enhancing the festival atmosphere. Claudette Guy, a Beast Fest committee member, leads the effort to organize vendors each year, and this year, she had an exceptional team supporting her. Businesses and entrepreneurs brought their A-game, contributing to the diverse range of offerings available to festival-goers. This not only added to the vibrancy of the event but also strengthened the bond between the community and its local businesses.

One vendor, Michelle Gruttolori Matla, of Southern Squeeze & Freeze, shared her enthusiasm, stating, “This was our first attendance at the Beast festival! I have to say, Thank you so much to everyone who worked this event; the staff was amazing, friendly, and so supportive… We hope we get invited to come back next year!”

The festival featured:

– A diverse selection of 75-100 Arts, Crafts, and Food vendors.

– Carnival rides that promised thrilling experiences for families and individuals.

– Horse and wagon rides that added a charming touch to the festival atmosphere.

– A Corn-hole tournament for competitive and friendly gaming.

– The beloved children’s costume contest followed by the eagerly awaited “Trunk-or-Treat” event, which drew over 1,000 children.

– Live entertainment events on both Friday and Saturday nights, known for their ability to draw large and enthusiastic crowds.

A festival highlight was the Trunk or Treat event, which captivated attendees with its festive spirit and engaging activities. Sponsored by New Light Church, this candy-filled attraction demonstrated the community’s appetite for creative and family-friendly experiences. The overwhelming response underscored the importance of incorporating such elements into Beast Fest each year.

Members of Boost the Boro, Inc., the organization behind the festival, are already brainstorming ideas to make the next installment even bigger and better. The dedication and passion of these individuals have been instrumental in shaping Beast Fest into the grand spectacle it has become.

Charles Peterson, chairman of the festival committee, expressed his delight in the turnout and extended appreciation to all those who contributed to the event’s enormous success.

The addition of a new permanent stage made a significant difference as well. Festival-goers quickly praised it, with comments like “The stage is awesome!” being heard from many.

For those eager to be part of this incredible journey, whether as a member or sponsor, the invitation is extended. Interested individuals can reach out via private message to the Beast Fest or Boost the Boro Inc. Facebook pages. Alternatively, direct inquiries can be sent to Boosttheboro@gmail.com. The journey to make it bigger and better has already begun, and the enthusiasm radiating from Boost the Boro ensures that the next chapter will be nothing short of extraordinary.
