October is a month many look forward too. The month has been the time for the Bladenboro Beast Fest for 10 years now and gives thousands of people something to look forward to each year.

Tuesday evening this week the Beast Fest organizers checked off even more on their lists for the approaching festival. The festival this year will be held on Friday, October 28th and Saturday October 29th, 2016 and is turning out to be a  jam-packed celebration.

You will find both safe and appropriate activities for “all-age groups”. This festival will be a really good way to spend an enjoyable and inexpensive weekend with the family. This year the celebrations will start Friday, October 28th with Fun Times Amusement kiddie rides, food vendors, and a street dance with the band, “Honey Don’t”, from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m.

Starting out the day on Saturday at 8:00 am there will be the annual 5K Fun Run (or Walk).  Then on Saturday festivities will continue full speed ahead with plenty to enjoy according to the booster members. Don Chase from WKML will be the emcee over the event staged in the First Citizen’s parking lot with live entertainment. Live entertainment Saturday will be provided by: “Milton Bullock of the Platters” and the band, “Gary Lowder & Smokin’ Hot” and others.

There will also be a wide variety of food and craft vendors, games and carnival type rides, a classic and late model car show, both a children’s and a pet “Howl-O-Ween” costume contest. The children’s costume contest will have cash prizes and the pet contest will have gifts for prizes for the animals.

The best live bands and entertainment you will find anywhere in the South will be there pretty much all day according to the planning committee.  Don’t even worry about going door-to-door for Trick or Treat this year with the kiddies because, as last year, one of our local church groups will block off an entire street section of town. They will host a live “Trunk or Treat” event that begins just after dusk.  This event is really something to see and was very popular last year for the kids.  This year, it is expected to draw an even larger crowd and we hope you will take an opportunity to carry your children (under age 12) through this production.
