Spread the love

Here is yet another story of Bladen County talent, and the main character of this edition is Rebecca Allen, more popularly known as Beck Black. She is the picture of musical excellence, as she is a “singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist,” according to her website, https://www.beckblack.com/. She is a Bladen County girl, who was raised in White Oak along the Cape Fear River. Even though she is a small-town girl, Black has always had big dreams.

She is an East Bladen High School graduate, one of the first film graduates of UNCW under Frank Capra Jr., a former member of the production team at WECT/FOX News, and a featured actress in various TV shows and films. And after all of that, music “fell into her lap,” according to Black.

Ever since 2014 in Los Angeles, she has been performing and recording. One of Black’s most recent releases includes “Who’s Gonna Save Rock ’n Roll,” with Beatles’ Ringo Starr on the drums. She also is part of the duo “JYNX,” two of whose songs were featured in the Netflix film, Dumplin’.

On November 28th, 2020, she announced that she will release a classic country debut called “Electric Cowgirl” in 2021, which was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, and New York City. During the wait for her country album, she encourages supporters to enjoy a sneak-peek of the album, “Don’t Call Me Darlin’”. You can also catch her on Sirius XM radio, via “Lil Steven’s Underground Garage” on Channel 21.

Black is not tied down to just one genre of music. She is a contributor to multiple genres, including Rock, Pop, Country, and Hip Hop. Her voice is described as “smooth and unmistakable.” Beck Black is a success story of a girl with big dreams who worked hard to make them come true. She exhibits her unique style unapologetically, and she makes her home county proud.

So… who is going to save Rock ‘n Roll?

Maybe it will be Beck Black.
