Spread the love
There will be a benefit this weekend in Bladen County to help two families. There will be a bike ride, BBQ plates, an auction, entertainment and more!
The families of Eva Pait and Sean Mullane are the reason behind the big event. Eva is a daughter with health issues and Sean is a truck driver diagnosed with cancer.
Eva’s mom helped explain the current situation. She said, “We get lots of questions about whats next for Eva Pait. Is her heart fixed? The answer is we don’t know. This last surgery was the last in the series to give her the best chance to grow and have good quality of life. Every kid is different some get pace makers, some get heart transplants. We are hopeful that isn’t the case for her. She will need heart catheterizations and Doctor visits her whole life. The reality is she still has half of a heart and that’s 30% of a heart pump that’s missing. We will keep everyone updated as we can. Thanks for all the prayers and good wishes. We can do all things with Christ on our side.”
Eva was born with a condition called Tricuspid atresia. She has no right side of her heart. Upon her diagnosis Kimmi and Jason soon learned that she woud need 3 surgeries in her first few years of life. The first could come as soon as she was born. We wouldn’t know until she took her first breath. On March 2, 2015 Eva Claire came into the world screaming…the best screams any of us has ever heard. She was breathing on her own, and pink!!! She stayed in the Pediatric Cardiac ICU for her first week and was sent home. Home is over 3 hours away from Duke University Hospital, where Eva will get all her cardiac care. Eva was thriving at home, eating well, gaining weight, smiling, without any significant issues, until she took a fast and unexpected turn on Good Friday. On Friday April 3rd Eva was sent urgently into her first heart surgery, it lasted four hours. This surgery was to place a shunt, and keep the blood flowing from her heart to her lungs. She did as well as can be expected. Eva is 2 years old. Eva Family Members: Mom & Dad – Kimmi & Jason Pait, Maternal Grandparents: Edward & Claire Chamberlain, Paternal Grandparents: Ruford & Jackie Watson & Dennis & Sylvia Pait, Great Grandparents are the late Dewey & Rose Dove. And the late Rufus Watson. Surviving Connie Mae Watson.
