Bladen County Commissioners voted to accept a bid for property owned by the county, subject to an upset bid. The action was taken at their Monday evening meeting. Interim Administrator/Assessor Renee Davis reported the county had $6,077.24 invested in the foreclosed property and have received a bid from Connie Gibson for $6,200. The property consist of a one acre lot with a house, located at 128 Q Ball Lane in Bladenboro.
Lisa Coleman, County Finance Officer, provided an update on county finances as of September 30.  Collections were ahead of last year at the same time and expenditures were less.
She also ask for approval of a Credit Card Use Policy and Bank Credit Card Use Agreement.  A second policy approved related to Financial and Budgetary policies.
Commissioners named three to the Child Fatality/Protection Team.  The included Paula Greene, Sheriff Jim McVicker and Ken Clark.
Appointment were also made to the EMS Advisory Council.  Included were Greg Martin, Arthur Bullock, Linda Croom and Anthony Davis.
Commission Chairman Charles Ray Peterson announced that the county would begin updating their Strategic Plan soon.  It will consist of citizens county-wide, representing every segment of the population .  Each commissioner will appoint one and the topics will include such issues as Education, Heath, Business and Tourism just to mention a few.  Peterson said the steering committee would not include commissioners and the process could last for several months.
Greg Martin reported bids on the new detention center would be opened on November 10 and 11, 2015.  The opening to be held at the Ag Center on Smith Circle.
The board recognized several employees for years of service. (more later)
A Public Hearing was held for comments related to funding for the Bladen Area Rural Transportation System (BARTS).  There were no comments and the board approved a resolution supportive of the program.
Commissioners entered closed session to discuss personnel.
