GASTONIA – Bladen County won both of their bracket games Saturday to advance as the bracket’s top seed into the semi-finals of the StateWide Activities Committee’s 10U Boys State Soccer Tournament.
Bladen County will play their semi-final game Sunday at 9 a.m. A win would send the Bladen team into Sunday’s championship game at 12:45 p.m.
Kevin Labra fired in a ‘Hat Trick’ of 3 goals, and Conner Padrick scored 2 goals to lead Bladen County to a 6-0 victory over Rocky Mount in Saturday’s first game.
A Garrett Dunham throw-in to Labra led to his first goal in the fourth minute of play. Three minutes later Labra scored again off of an Aiden Russ assist. In the tenth minute Labra turned a Zach Sholar assist into his third goal and put Bladen County ahead 3-0 at halftime.
Three minutes into the second half Conner Padrick knocked in a deflection to pad the Bladen lead to 4-0. Fernando Chavez sent a pass to Conner Padrick two minutes later that Padrick converted into his second goal of the game.
Seven minutes later Chase Butler scored the final goal for Bladen County off of an assist from Jonah Bryan.
Labra scored two more goals in Bladen County’s 4-1 win over Belmont. Padrick opened the scoring in that game with a goal in the tenth minute of play. Twelve minutes later Labra banged in his first goal of the game.
Labra scored again off of an assist from Russ, and Butler converted a pass from Chavez into the final Bladen County goal.
