Bladen County’s 14-and-Under Boys All-Stars blanked Boone Saturday 6-0 in their second opening round pool play game in the State-Wide Athletic Committee (SWAC) State Soccer Tournament in Hickory.
In Saturday’s first game, the Bladen team battled Wilson to a 1-1 tie. Garrett Melvin scored the lone Bladen County goal in that game.
Jake Evans recorded a ‘Hat Trick’ in Bladen County’s win over Boone as he fired in three of the Bladen County goals. Melvin tallied 2 goals in the victory over Boone, and teammate Joseph Massaid knocked in the other Bladen goal.
Bladen County will face Wilson in a penalty kick shoot-out at 9:30 a.m. Sunday that will decide the No. 1 seed for Sunday’s elimination play.
The winner of the shoot-out will advance to the championship game at 1 p.m. The loser of the shoot-out will play at 10 a.m. against the No. 3 seed for the right to advance to the 1 p.m. championship game.
