Pirates 10, Bandits 1

Rylee Chadwick walloped 2 home runs and pitched the Pirates to a 10-1 victory over the Bandits in Bladen Recreation 8-10 Fast-Pitch Softball action Monday night at County Park.

Chadwick struck out 11 of 13 batters in her 4 innings in the circle. The only Bandit base-runner in those 4 innings was a hit batter. Mackenzie Singletary pitched the fifth inning for the Pirates and gave up a run on 2 hits while striking out two.

Chadwick hammered a drive off the left-centerfield fence and circled the bases for a home run. Kaden Thurman smashed a double and scored the second Pirate run on a wild pitch.

The Pirates added 3 runs in the third. Ashlynn Brown and Rebecca Johnson cracked singles, and Brown scored on a wild pitch. Johnson scored when Chadwick drilled a 2-run homer that stretched the lead to 5-0.

Thurman led off the Pirate fourth with a single, and Mackenzie Singletary was hit by a pitch. Holland Davis and Marlie Walters belted singles, and Morgan Moore was hit by a pitch. All five of them scored runs to grow the lead to 10-0.

Brookee Singletary and Aubrey Schwable slugged singles in the Bandit fifth, and Brookee Singletary raced home on a wild pitch.

Morgan Benson started in the pitching circle for the Bandits and caught a pop-up to start a second-inning double play. Benson’s toss to thirdbaseman Brookee Singletary doubled the runner off third.

Chadwick batted 2-2 with the 2 homers and 3 runs batted in. Thurman finished 2-2 at the plate with a double. Walters also batted 2-2. Davis, Brown and Johnson added one hit each for the Pirates.
