Board Of EducationThe Bladen County Board of Education is expected to receive a consolidation plan from Superintendent Dr. Robert Taylor at its scheduled meeting Monday to close three schools.

The meeting is set to begin at 6 p.m., at the central office on U.S. 701, across from Elizabethtown Middle School.

Taylor’s plan will call for closing Clarkton School of Discovery, Booker T. Washington Primary in Clarkton and Plain View Primary near Tar Heel at the end of the current school year. If approved by the board, Bladen County schools would be reduced from 13 to 10. Taylor’s proposal also is expected to call for some type of change in grades attending East Arcadia Elementary.

Other items on Monday’s agenda include:

** Spotlights and Recognition: FCCLA state winer, CTE teacher proficiency and A+ technology certification.

** Citizen participation: Brenda Clark and secretary for Hollow Township Community Action Committee Joyce Graham.

** Information items: Financial summary, N.C. State College Advising Corps./BCC College Advisor, Education App, DPI newsletter; Marine Quest grant; Preliminary testing results; CTE Red/Green report.

** Action items: Partial budget resolution, Elizabethtown Middle School roof lottery application, Elizabethtown Middle School application for air conditioning units, fundraising requests from Tar Heel Middle School and West Bladen High School, overnight field trip request from West Bladen High School, EC contract for physical therapy services, Title I parent involvement plans, Board of Education nominee to Bladen Community College Board of Trustees, school advisory councils, immunization and health requirements for school admission.

** Closed session to discuss personnel, student transfers and legal issues.

** Chairman’s report.
