BladenCharge

In an effort to support and encourage Literacy in Schools, the Bladen Charge United Methodist Churches have partnered with Bladen Lakes Primary School this school year.  The Charge has a newly formed Literacy & Tutoring Ministry Team that has stepped up to collaborate with the school to not only pray for and support the staff and students, but also to help with projects to promote reading and improve literacy.

The Team provided breakfast for the faculty and staff at the start of the school year and gave each teacher a “Survival Kit” which included Bible verses and daily reminders.   The team also sponsored a drive to provide books for the “Battle of the Books” team at Bladen Lakes.

A set of 18 books and money to purchase another set was presented to Lisa Parks, the BOB Coach for the school.  The team plans to volunteer as tutors during the after school program.

The Bladen Charge feels that God has called their churches to help increase reading proficiency in students; support teachers in their efforts to educate students; provide one-on-one assistance to students; help expose students to an expanded vocabulary; make donations of books/supplies; and to show students/teachers that they have people who care and are interested in them.  The Bladen Charge Churches include Bethlehem UMC, Live Oak UMC and Windsor UMC.  For more information visit www.bladencharge.com
