The Bladen County Board of Commissioners are expected Monday to consider contracts worth $5.4 million for Phase IV of the Bladen County Water District.

The board, which will enter into session as the Bladen County Water District Board of Directors during its regularly scheduled meeting, is expected to recommend awarding contracts to LKC Engineering to install 27 miles of 2-inch through 6-inch water main, install a water supply well located along Guyton Road and a system wide supervisory control and date acquisition (SCADA) system, and replace about 5,450 water meters and the implementation of a new meter reading program.

The awarded contracts must be made contingent upon the final authorization and approval from USDA–Rural Development and the Local Government Commission.

Among other items on Monday’s agenda is recognition Capt. Jeff Tyler, who recently retired after 26 years with the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. in the lower level Assembly Room of the Bladen County Courthouse in Elizabethtown.
