Bladen Community College will honor its Class of 2021 with a special celebration event on campus Friday, May 14, including a virtual graduation ceremony.

The campus celebration activities will start at 6 p.m. and continue until 8 p.m. with the official launch of the graduation ceremony video on a big outdoor screen starting with dusk at 8:15.

The video can also be viewed by the public with a click on a link that will be embedded on the college’s website at www.bladencc.edu and on the college’s Facebook page.

Chad Porter, a nationally renowned motivational speaker and author with local ties, will be the featured guest speaker. Porter is the author of a best selling book, “Severed Dreams,” and has told his story of resiliency across the country to business conferences and in the locker room of NFL teams.

Plans include the recognition of each graduate and the video is expected to be about an hour in duration.

During the on campus event, graduates will have the opportunity to have a professional photograph taken in cap and gown with the president of the college, receive a commemorative graduation gift, music, and enjoy activities with complimentary food choices. In addition, Porter will be on hand to autograph his book.

Graduates are urged to submit a photo and tribute to the college as soon as possible to be used during the graduation ceremony video. Detailed instructions on how to get that done and a video tutorial to assist is on a dedicated web page of the college’s website. Also, college staff is available by phone or email to guide graduates as well.

Dr. Amanda Lee, president of Bladen Community College, remarked in a communication that recently went out to graduates, “No one could have anticipated the impact of this virus on our lives, I am deeply grateful for your remarkable resilience and that of our faculty and staff. Your hard work will continue to serve you well in the future. I look forward to celebrating with you and your families, friends, our BCC family on Friday, May 14th.”
