DUBLIN – The United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) has renewed Bladen Community College with Quality Standards Certification, acknowledging the college’s outstanding progress and referring to BCC as “a role model for other institutions.”
According to Dr. John G. Flores, executive director for the USDLA, “We were inspired by the breadth and scope of the college-wide collaborative outreach. The review team has enthusiastically and unanimously agreed to recognize continued Quality Standards Certification to Bladen Community College.”
Founded in 1987, the USDLA addresses a wide range of learning opportunities, including pre-K to 12, higher education, continuing education, corporate training, military and government training, home schooling, telemedicine, and national and international technology.
BCC Director of Distance Learning and Instructor Ray Sheppard remarked, “Not only are we pleased to maintain certification with this premiere governing association, we are also proud to be recognized as a role model for community colleges across the country.” This recognition was achieved through campus-wide collaboration and teamwork.
“Our advisory team has raised the bar by collaborating with the Continuing Education Department to offer Moodle training, ongoing workshops and professional development. We have added WebAdvisor Self Service, WizIQ Live Class, PooDLL, and online tutoring through Upswing,” explains Sheppard. “It is a campus-wide commitment to improve teaching and student learning at a distance and face-to-face.”
