A staff report
Bladen Community College (BCC) has joined forces with other southeastern North Carolina colleges to support Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) in Hendersonville, NC, a region heavily affected by Hurricane Helene. The storm led to BRCC’s temporary closure, but after reopening on October 14, the college and its community still face significant recovery challenges. Now, BCC has rallied resources to offer much-needed assistance.
From November 4 through November 18, BCC is accepting donations at Building 11 on its campus. Community members are encouraged to contribute essential supplies, which will be delivered directly to BRCC to support students and residents affected by the hurricane. Donations include items for warmth and shelter, such as blankets, socks, thermal underwear, coats, and propane heaters. Cleaning supplies, personal hygiene products, and over-the-counter medicines are also urgently needed.
BCC is also requesting contributions of flashlights, batteries, children’s toys, school supplies, and non-perishable snacks to address a variety of needs among impacted students and their families. Those interested in donating or scheduling a drop-off can contact BCC at 910-879-5526 or 910-879-5611 for more information.
Bladen Community College’s “Communities Helping Communities” initiative underscores the strength and resilience of North Carolina communities as they come together to support one another in times of crisis.
